Our Story
Established in 1997, by Jacqueline Hamilton, Island Air, located in Friday Harbor, Washington, has been providing safe and affordable air charter travel to generations of San Juan Island residents and visitors. Island Air has a proud history of innovation, safety and excellence in aviation services.
Island Air has maintained a flawless safety record since its inception and is one of the few FAA Part 135 operators that have adopted an internationally recognized Safety Management System as part of its Standard Operating Procedures. Although it remains a small family business, Island Air is the largest air carrier in the U.S that was started and built by a woman.
Our Fleet
Our fleet, based in Friday Harbor Washington, consists of state-of-the-art aircraft designed to provide the ultimate flying experience in and around the San Juan Islands and beyond.
We are committed to investing in the latest technology to ensure the safety, comfort, and convenience of our passengers.
Island Air's charter planes can accommodate up to 8 passengers in executive luxury with our Cessna Caravan Grand EX, while our smaller Cessnas hold up to three passengers and are a great option for budget minded air charter needs.

Island Air offers custom on-demand charter services from its base in Friday Harbor. Our mix of aircraft are ideal for providing safe, cost-effective service to the surrounding islands and mainland destinations in the USA and Canada. Island Air takes pride in its award-winning safety record and meticulously maintained aircraft. Our experienced pilots have an average of 8,000 hours of flight time and rotate through day and night air ambulance duty as well as charter assignments. We can accommodate a variety of group sizes.

Our Air Ambulance Service
San Juan County Air Ambulance Service -
Island Air provides FAA Part 135 aviation services for Island Air Ambulance, a unique, community based, fixed wing air ambulance program serving the San Juan Islands. This life-saving program features a number of aviation innovations including IFR capability, specialized aeromedical interior, aircraft satellite tracking, radio over internet communications, the use of an electronic flight bag, and a robust Safety Management System. Medical crews include experienced Flight Nurses and Flight Paramedics. Island Air highly recommends joining the Island Air Ambulance Membership Program available to all residents, both full and part-time. Membership program benefits include no-out-of-pocket costs for medically necessary fixed wing flights provided by Island Air Ambulance. Memberships are even available for summer visitors.
